Californian variety, grown since 2001.
Like Camarosa, it is recommended for growing in warm climate, but fruit ripe earlier. Total crop is higher than Camarosa. It is a dessert variety, not very prone to grey mould rot. Fruit are attractive, large, tasty and ideal for trading. Fruit firmness is satisfactory, although fruit are slightly less firm comparing to Camarosa variety. Fruit are lighter in colour. Plants have strong growing habit, large leaves, medium prone to Phytophtora cactorum and Verticillum, but less resistant than mentioned Camarosa variety. Ventana grown in Poland requires covering in the wintertime to protect plants fromfrost.
