Elsanta
A cultivar of Dutch origin, bred in 1981.
Excellent for fresh use, berries very durable and good for transport. Elsanta is the best cultivar for forcing under covers and in the field. Good bearing on light soils but humid.
Berries very attractive - large. Skin bright red and glossy. Flesh light red, mildly acid, flavorful and tasty. Ripens 3-5 days before Senga Sengana.
Berries little subject to botrytis but very susceptible to powdery mildew. Plants are not resistant to root diseases and in severe winters without snow they can get frozen. It needs winter protection.
